When you use CalRay, we may collect:

  • Account data — email address and display name when you create an account.
  • Food log data — photos and meal entries you log in the app. Photos are processed to identify food and estimate nutrition; they are not permanently stored on our servers beyond the processing window.
  • Usage data — app events, feature interactions, and crash reports to improve the product.
  • Device data — device model, OS version, and app version for diagnostic purposes.

2. How we use your data

  • To provide AI food recognition and calorie tracking features.
  • To sync your food log across devices.
  • To improve our AI models and app quality (aggregate, anonymized data only).
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, account confirmation).

3. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • AI processing providers — food photos are sent to AI inference APIs for recognition. Data is not retained by providers beyond the request.
  • Analytics providers — anonymized, aggregated usage events.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our rights.

4. Data retention

We retain your account and food log data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings.

5. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
  • Export your food log data.
  • Opt out of non-essential data processing.

6. Cookies & tracking

The CalRay website uses cookies only for essential functionality (session management). No third-party advertising cookies are used.

7. Children's privacy

CalRay is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@calray.app.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of CalRay after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
